Major criminal charges can be brought against a person if he or she is accused of having been involved in a drunk driving accident that caused another individual's death. A person can face serious consequences if he or she is convicted of such charges.

Recently, a sentence was issued in a case from New Jersey involving an alleged drunk driving accident.

The case involves a 21-year-old woman from Newark, New Jersey. Reportedly, on May 8, 2010, the woman was driving a car along a road in Kenilworth, New Jersey. Reportedly, the woman had four passengers in her car.

Allegedly, a collision then occurred between the woman's car and another motor vehicle. Reportedly, one of the four passengers of the woman's car died as a result of this motor vehicle accident. The accident also reportedly resulted in another of the woman's passengers sustaining serious injuries.

The woman was accused of having been intoxicated at the time of this crash. Charges of DWI and vehicular homicide were brought against the woman in connection to the accident. The woman pled guilty to these charges.

As we mentioned above, the woman was recently sentenced in this case. According to the NJ.com article which reported this story, the woman was given a 5-year prison sentence.

As this case illustrates, a person can be given serious criminal punishments if he or she is convicted of charges related to an alleged drunk driving accident that resulted in another individual's death. Thus, being accused of being involved in a fatal drunk driving accident can be a very serious matter.
